Tigers comeback attempt falls short, face do-or-die Game 6 on Sunday

May 1, 2026 | 10:41 PM

Trailing by three goals entering the third period, the Medicine Hat Tigers would get within one but failed to force overtime as the Prince Albert Raiders added a pair of empty-netters to finalize a 6-3 Game 5 win.

Jonas Woo tied the game at one late in the first period, putting his seventh of the season past Raiders netminder Michal Orsulak.

Prince Albert would respond with three unanswered second-period goals, with a pair from Owen Corkish and a single from Ben Harvey to take a 4-1 lead into the intermission.

Ethan Neutens started the comeback attempt 1:55 into the third after redirecting a point shot past Orsulak.

Josh Van Mulligen would pull the Tigers within one eight minutes later, putting home a rebound for his second of the postseason.

Carter Casey made the best of his 41 saves in the third period, keeping the Tigers within striking distance.

That is where the comeback would end, as with two and a half minutes left in the third period, Owen Corkish shot the puck 200-feet into the Tigers empty net to complete the hat-trick and quell any hopes of a comeback.

Alisher Sarkenov and Brayden Dube rounded out the Raiders offense as Prince Albert sits one win away from advancing to the Western Hockey League Finals for the first time since 2019.

The Tigers now face a must-win Game 6 Sunday night in order to keep their season alive.
