Alberta Highway Cleanup goes May 2 from 7-5, so drive cautious
Alberta RCMP are requesting motorists take caution this May 2 as there will be thousands of volunteers out cleaning grassy areas around provincial highways.
More than 12,000 people are expected out for the annual highway cleanup event, with 8,000 of them children representing clubs like 4H, the Junior Forest Wardens, and other youth groups.
Participants will be wearing safety vests, and there will be caution posters placed adjacent to cleanup areas. The event is expected to run from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The Alberta RCMP asks motorists to slow down in marked cleanup areas and to be aware of added foot-traffic.
