Apr 23, 2026 | 11:44 AM

Environment Canada has issued a yellow warning for wind in the Medicine Hat area on Thursday morning.

Strong winds that may cause damage are expected, with strong north wind gusts up to 90 km/h expected throughout the day.

Winds are expected to slowly weaken overnight.

The wind will push around high-sided vehicles, and some property damage is possible.

It’s advised to secure loose objects and prepare for possible disruptions to transportation, services, and utilities.

A special weather statement also has bands of heavy snow possible Thursday evening through Saturday morning, with locally rapid snow accumulation and poor visibility.

Rapidly deteriorating weather conditions are expected with reduced visibility in heavy snowfall in local areas.

Snowfall totals will vary, but some areas may see quick accumulations of up to 10 cm of snow.

Blowing snow is also possible overnight Thursday night and into Friday afternoon, causing poor visibility.

It’s advised to prepare for quickly changing and deteriorating travel conditions.
