Bandits and Crusaders series shifts to Brooks on Friday tied at two a piece

The Brooks Bandits have been in tough against the Sherwood Park Crusaders through four games in their best-of-seven BCHL second-round playoff series.

Tied at two games a piece, the series shifts back to the Centennial Regional Arena for game five on Friday night at seven, with game six set for Sunday back in Sherwood Park at 6 p.m.

A potential game seven would be played on Tuesday in Brooks at 7 p.m.

The Bandits suffered a 5-4 overtime loss to the Crusaders on Wednesday night in game four.

A game that had the Bandits jump out to an early two-goal lead with tallies from Harry Ahlberg, 6:22 into the game, and Jack Rosensteel at the 8:47 mark.

The Crusaders would get on the board with a power play goal from Joseph Sinclair, 11:13 into the first period, to cut the lead to one.

Liam Fitzpatrick extended the Bandits lead to 3-1 at the 17:36 mark, before the Crusaders Michael Mikan narrowed the gap to one again just 21 seconds later.

The Bandits’ 3-2 lead was gone by the end of the second after a pair of Crusaders goals gave the opponent a 4-3 lead heading into the third.

A shorthanded marker by Issac Johnson tied it up for the Bandits in the third, to send the game to overtime.

Ryan White would give the Crusaders the win 8:36 into the extra frame.

The goal came a night after Mathis Dufour scored the overtime winner for the Bandits in Tuesday’s 6-5 game three win.

The first two games of the series this past weekend were split in Brooks, with the Crusaders winning game one on Friday, 3-1, and the Bandits bouncing back to take game two on Saturday, 6-2.
