Large amounts of snow reported northwest of Brooks and northeast of Oyen

A late-season snowstorm affected southern Alberta on Thursday and early Friday morning, with snowfall amounts reported by Environment Canada for several locations.

The Hamlet of Gem, located 59 km northwest of Brooks, led the way with 35 cm of snow reported.

Nearby, Brooks reported significantly less at 10 cm.

A little further west at Gleichen, reports had between 30 and 35 cm of snow.

The hamlet of Esther, located 53 km northeast of Oyen, received 33 cm of snow.

Calgary had totals varying from 10 cm to 26 cm.

The Rocky Mountain region at Kananaskis reported 23 cm, with Nakiska Ski Resort getting 18 cm.

Lower totals were reported south in the Foothills region, with Longview at 13 cm and Pekisko at 12 cm.

Further south, Claresholm received 14 cm of snow.
