Medicine Hat Tigers look to sweep the Calgary Hitmen, advance back to Eastern Conference Finals

Apr 15, 2026 | 12:15 PM

The Medicine Hat Tigers will look to complete the sweep of the Calgary Hitmen tonight in Game 4 of their Eastern Conference semi-finals series and advance back to the Conference Finals.

Medicine Hat enters Game 4 following a 5-2 Game 3 victory, which saw Tigers draft-eligible forward Liam Ruck score a hat-trick en route to a four-point night, while netminder Carter Casey turned aside 34 of 36 Hitmen shots.

As great as the performances of Casey and Liam Ruck were, the Tigers penalty kill was the real star of Game 3.

Their kill went five for six, but they killed off all five of their final five attempts, including 1:45 of 5-on-3 time midway through the third period while the game was still within one.

Medicine Hat will be tasked with slowing down Hitmen 20-year-old forward Ethan Moore, who has goals in every game this postseason and leads all WHL skaters in playoff goals with eight.

The Hitmen have opened the scoring in each of the last two games of this series and six of the last seven against the Tigers, dating back to the regular season.

Despite that, Calgary has been held to three goals or fewer in all seven of those games, and has only managed to score four or more against Medicine Hat once in their 11 combined meetings.

If the Tigers win tonight, they will become the first defending champion to make it back to the Conference Finals the following season since the Kelowna Rockets did it back during the 2016 postseason.

Puck drop for Game 4 from inside the Scotiabank Saddledome is set for 7:00 p.m. MST.

The pre-game show begins at 6:45 p.m. on WILD 94.5 FM.
