The fundraising push for the 2026 Special Olympics Canada Summer Games in Medicine Hat is nearing the finish line.

The upcoming Games are the biggest multi-sport event in Medicine Hat’s history, with a $3.8 million budget.

Fundraising efforts have already brought $1.7 million to support the event.

Organizers say they have had incredible support from local schools running a toonie collection campaign and dozens of corporate sponsors.

A special 50/50 Raffle is underway through the Medicine Hat Games Society, the organization behind the Aug. 11-15 Games. Tickets will be available to Alberta residents only due to regulations.

“This is a great opportunity for everyone in Medicine Hat to help out to the best of their ability,” Special Olympics Canada Summer Games marketing director Barry Finkelman said.

“It’s a simple process, and the return could be significant.”

Operated online through RaffleBox, the jackpot winner will be drawn on July 31, 2026, at Co-op Place, the site of the Games’ opening ceremonies.

Ticket bundles are now on sale, ranging from 1 ticket for $10 up to 100 for $100, with limited quantities available at each price point.

The Games are expected to have an estimated 1,700 participants, 1,500 volunteers, thousands of family, friends, and fans across 10 sports.
