Carter Casey dazzles as Tigers defeat Hitmen, take 3-0 series lead

Apr 13, 2026 | 11:14 PM

The Medicine Hat Tigers scored a pair of second and third period goals to defeat the Calgary Hitmen 5-2 and move one win away from advancing back to the Eastern Conference Finals.

Liam Ruck powered the Medicine Hat offense with a playoff hat-trick and added an assist on his twin brother Markus’ goal, which would go on to serve as the eventual game-winner.

The final goal of the night was scored by Tigers forward Ethan Neutens, on an empty net, to secure the three-goal Medicine Hat win.

Carter Casey was spectacular yet again for Medicine Hat, turning aside 34 Hitmen shots in the win.

Casey was aided by the Tigers penalty kill, which killed off their final five attempts of the game, including a 1:45 5-on-3 near the midway mark of the third period.

The lone goals to beat Casey were an Ethan Moore deflection and a Wyatt Pisarczyk point shot that redirected off a Tigers skate and in.

Hitmen netminder Eric Tu made 26 saves in the defeat.

Despite six penalty kils, the Tigers did not go to the man-advantage in the game.

Powerplays have been 9-1 in Calgary’s favour over games two and three but despite that, the Tigers lead the series 3-0.

Game 4 goes Wednesday night inside the Scotiabank Saddledome, where the Medicine Hat Tigers will have a chance to advance back to the Eastern Conference Finals for the second straight season.
