Medicine Hat police charge 17-year-old with multiple offences after crash involving injured youth
A 17-year-old male driver is facing multiple charges, including four counts of dangerous operation causing bodily harm, after police say he was later located uninjured following a collision and a fail-to-remain incident.
A member of the Medicine Hat Police Service Patrol Section at about 1:20 a.m. on April 7 was conducting traffic control near the Trans-Canada Highway when a truck passed eastbound at a high rate of speed.
The officer attempted to stop the vehicle, but it continued north on 13 Ave, where it lost control and struck a traffic light pole.
The driver and a male passenger fled on foot, while three other youth occupants exited the vehicle.
