Alberta launches its own whisky identity
The Government of Alberta is launching what it calls the brand power Alberta whisky deserves.
Bill 24: the Alberta Whisky Act, defines and protects what can be labelled as ‘Alberta whisky’ the province says in a release.
If passed, the legislation would give whisky distilled here a clear identity, just as Kentucky is known for bourbon and Scotland is known for scotch, the government adds.
“The world wants more of everything Alberta has to offer. Our distillers craft some of the finest whisky in the world, using the highest quality ingredients that only Alberta can offer. This legislation would ensure Alberta distillers have the recognition they need to flourish on the world stage.”
