Brooks RCMP respond after trailer sparks ignite ditch fires

Brooks RCMP responded to a traffic hazard at about 1:12 p.m. March 28, 2026, on Highway 1 near Tilley, involving a trailer that lost a wheel and was travelling on its rim.

Police said sparks generated from the trailer ignited multiple roadside ditch fires, including one that spread into an adjacent field, along with several smaller fires in the area.
