Wind warnings in place across southern Alberta

Environment Canada has issued a yellow warning for wind for all of southern Alberta on Tuesday morning.

In the west, the area that includes the Crowsnest Pass, Pincher Creek, Cardston, Lethbridge, Taber, and Milk River can expect strong west winds with gusts up to 110 km/h to continue throughout the day.

In the east, the Medicine Hat area from Burdett to the Saskatchewan border, and south to the United States border, can expect west winds reaching up to 90 km/h.

Driving conditions are expected to be difficult in these areas, and it’s advised to secure loose objects.

High-sided vehicles will be pushed around by the winds. 

The winds will weaken in the afternoon for the Medicine Hat area.

In the Lethbridge area, winds will weaken to 90 km/h in the evening before strengthening again on Wednesday morning.

Winds north of Lethbridge in the Claresholm, Nanton, High River, and Okotoks area, and further northwest, are expected to gust up to 90 km/h on Tuesday before weakening slightly in the afternoon.
