Icy road conditions are reported near Medicine Hat with weather warnings outside the city

511 Alberta is reporting road conditions near Medicine Hat as having snow cover and icy conditions.

A caller has reported that traffic was travelling at about 80 km/h on the 110 km/h Trans-Canada Highway between Suffield and Brooks, with icy roads just before 9 a.m. on Thursday.

Environment Canada is reporting conditions north of Medicine Hat as under a yellow warning for snowfall this morning, with amounts ranging from 15 to 20 cm, and poor visibility.

Snow is expected to taper off this evening, with snowfall in the area between Highway 36 northwest of Brooks, through to areas of Saskatchewan including the Leader area.

A yellow warning for wind is issued southwest of Medicine Hat, including Foremost and into southwest Saskatchewan.

Wind Speeds are expected to reach up to 90 km/h.

Environment Canada states that the warning is in place into the afternoon, and local utility outages are possible.

It’s advised to secure loose objects.
