Tigers look for strong bounce-back in first round playoff preview against Pats

Mar 10, 2026 | 12:37 PM

The Medicine Hat Tigers return to the friendly confines of Co-op Place tonight for a potential first-round playoff preview against the Regina Pats.

This comes after the clubs concluded a busy week that saw the club play four games over five nights, spanning 2700km of travel on Saturday night in Edmonton, where, despite a valiant effort, they fell 6-1 to the Oil Kings.

Tonight marks the regular season finale between the two potential playoff foes and marks a rematch of last Tuesday night’s 11-2 thrashing in Regina.

The Tigers are 3-0-0-0 in the head-to-head against the Pats and have won ten straight regular-season matches against the Pats dating back to January 20th, 2024.

Regina enters tonight four points up on the Red Deer Rebels for the seventh seed in the Eastern Conference and need just five points over their last seven games to clinch their first playoff berth since 2022-23.

The Pats were last in action Sunday afternoon in Calgary, where the Hitmen mounted a late three-goal third-period comeback to fall 4-3 in overtime.

15-year-old first-overall pick of the 2025 WHL Prospects Draft, Maddox Schultz, has points in four straight for the Pats, but has just three games remaining on his eligibility for the regular season.

Schultz has four goals over his last four games for Regina.

With an Edmonton loss to Prince Albert on Sunday, the Medicine Hat Tigers have clinched their second consecutive Central Division title for the first time since 2017-18.

The Tabbies sit two points behind the Raiders, who hold one game in hand, and the total wins tiebreaker on Medicine Hat, for top spot in the Conference.

Puck drop from inside Co-op Place is slated for 7:00 p.m. MST.

The pre-game show gets underway at 6:30 p.m. on WILD 94.5 FM.
