Medicine Hat Tigers begin two-game mid-week road trip in Regina

Mar 3, 2026 | 12:33 PM

The Central Division leading Medicine Hat Tigers are on the road today, kicking off a brief two-game road trip against the Regina Pats.

Tonight’s matchup could serve as a potential first-round playoff preview with the two clubs slated to square off in the postseason if the season ended today.

The Tabbies magic number to clinch their second straight division title is down to four as they sit nine points up on the Edmonton Oil Kings with nine games left in the regular season.

It would be their first time they have secured consecutive division crowns in nearly a decade, having done so during the 2016-17 and 2017-18 campaigns.

Medicine Hat also sits just six points back from surpassing last season’s point total, a remarkable feat for a defending champion.

The Tigers will get stand-out 19-year-old blueliner Jonas Woo back in the lineup tonight as he returns from serving a three-game suspension.

Although below the .500 mark, the Regina Pats have won seven of their last nine games, and their last three wins have come against the Saskatoon Blades, Edmonton Oil Kings, and Prince George Cougars.

The Pats occupy the seventh seed in the Eastern Conference and are five wins away from clinching a postseason berth for the first time since the 2022-23 season.

Tonight marks the third of four regular-season meetings between the two potential playoff foes, with the regular-season finale coming a week from tonight back in Medicine Hat.

The Tigers are 2-0-0-0 against the Pats this season, but needed overtime to secure the 4-3 win in their last trip to the Brandt Center and secure their ninth consecutive win over Regina.

Puckdrop for tonight’s tilt is slated for 6:00 p.m. MST.

The pre-game show gets underway at 5:45 p.m. on WILD 94.5 FM.
