MLA’s Wright and Smith will host a Town Hall in Medicine Hat

Feb 19, 2026 | 5:37 PM

Cypress-Medicine Hat MLA Justin Wright and Brooks-Medicine Hat MLA and Alberta Premier Danielle Smith will host a town hall to discuss local and provincial issues with constituents.

Constituents will have an opportunity to ask questions and hear updates directly from the MLAs, with questions accepted in advance and taken from the floor during the meeting.

Wright said past town halls have followed major provincial announcements, giving residents a chance to seek clarification and learn more about local impacts.

“Last year we were able to talk about the Urgent Care Centre announcement for Medicine Hat that’s in planning and design right now,” Wright said.

“There’s new things that are going to be discussed, there’s questions that are going to get answered, and it’s just a great opportunity for folks to get engaged.”

Wright said the Q&A session during the meeting is one of many approaches that connect residents with their elected officials.

“It’s certainly an approach [that] works best for people, they have the avenue to participate in,” Wright said.

“It’s not just a one-and-done thing with the town hall, this is just one of the avenues of engagement with constituents,” he added.

“If [attendees] want to book a meeting, they can reach out to the office, and we can certainly get that taken care of.”

The meeting is set to take place from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday at Higdon Hall.
