City of Medicine Hat inviting applications for Indigenous Advisory Circle

Feb 5, 2026 | 10:35 AM

The City of Medicine Hat is inviting Indigenous community members who live or work in the community to submit expressions of interest for participation on an Indigenous Advisory Circle.

Encouraged by the City are individuals who identify as First Nations, Métis, or Inuit.

The City states that the Indigenous Advisory Circle will provide guidance, advice, and lived-experience perspectives which support respectful relationships, meaningful engagement, and informed decision-making between the City and Indigenous peoples.

City of Medicine Hat Indigenous Relations Coordinator Kellie Grace said the City’s commitment to Truth and Reconciliation means moving beyond words, and toward meaningful, relationship-based action.

“The creation of the Indigenous Advisory Circle is an important step, which creates a culturally respectful space for dialogue, accountability, and shared responsibility,” Grace said in a statement from the City.

“It recognizes that Reconciliation requires Indigenous voices to be included in decisions that impact the community.”

Once established, the City said that the Advisory Circle will help ensure Indigenous voices are heard, valued, and reflected in municipal policies, programs, and initiatives.
