Family Medicine Maternity Clinic set to reopen at Medicine Hat Regional Hospital
An announcement took place at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital on Thursday, stating the Family Medicine Maternity Clinic will reopen next month, restoring access to comprehensive prenatal care for local families in the city.
Cypress-Medicine Hat MLA and Parliamentary Secretary of Rural Health Justin Wright, along with Dr. Gerry Prince, family obstetrician and clinic lead, made the announcement.
During the speech, Wright said, “This clinic will provide an urgent solution to support prenatal and obstetrical care in our community.”
The reopening follows warnings from local health-care leaders that a planned physician departure in April would have limited access to maternity care and left some expectant mothers without prenatal services in the spring of 2026.
