Jan 20, 2026 | 4:45 PM

A Yellow Warning for snow squall and wind is in effect for the City of Medicine Hat, with strong northwest winds gusting to 90 km/h expected as snow squalls are possible, causing brief but heavy snowfall and poor visibility in the evening on Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2026.

According to Environment Canada, heavy flurries are expected to develop over northeastern Alberta early in the evening, heading south, as visibility may be suddenly reduced to near zero.

Blowing snow is also possible in open areas, but conditions will improve overnight

Environment Canada asks the public to prepare for the possibility of quickly changing and deteriorating conditions when travelling, as it may be hazardous.

Environment Canada also warns the public of possible local utility outages, and to secure loose objects, as damage to roofs, fences, branches, or soft shelters is also possible due to strong winds.

Wind speeds are expected to weaken on Wednesday, Jan. 21.
