Christmas tree recycling is available in Medicine Hat at various locations

Dec 26, 2025 | 5:00 AM

Medicine Hat residents looking to dispose of real Christmas trees after the holidays will once again have several recycling options in the city.

The City of Medicine Hat states that real trees can be dropped off at bulk recycling depots until Jan. 30, 2026.

Drop-off locations include:

  1. Northlands Co-op Recycling Depot at 20 Northlands Way NE
  2. Kipling Street Recycling Depot at 240 Kipling St. SE
  3. Southwest corner of the Medicine Hat Mall parking lot at 3292 Dunmore Rd. SE

Residents are asked to remove all plastic bags, stands, tinsel and decorations before dropping off trees.

Real Christmas trees can also be taken to the compost facility located within the city’s Waste Management Facility.

Artificial Christmas trees are not accepted through the real tree recycling program or the Circular Materials blue cart service.

The city says artificial trees that can no longer be reused or donated should be placed in grey waste collection carts or taken to the landfill at the Waste Management Facility.
