Triple-digit wind speeds recorded Wednesday in southern Alberta

Environment Canada has released more details about this week’s storm.

They say an “Alberta clipper,” or a low-pressure winter storm that originates in the province, tore through southern Alberta on Wednesday, Dec. 17.

In Onefour, an agricultural research station in the southeast, wind gusts reached up to 131 km/hr.

The weather forecaster also recorded triple-digit wind speeds at the Waterton Park Gate (126 km/hr), Lethbridge (113 km/hr), Bow Island (107 km/hr), Beaver Mines (106 km/hr), and Pincher Creek (102 km/hr).

As well, high wind speeds were recorded in communities such as Carway (98), Brooks (96), Cardston (91), Medicine Hat (87), Milk River (87), and Calgary (81).
