Pickford plays overtime hero, Tigers stretch win-streak to six

Dec 5, 2025 | 9:12 PM

Medicine Hat Tigers captain Bryce Pickford scored the game-winning goal 20 seconds into overtime to secure the Tabbies their sixth straight victory in come-from-behind fashion, 4-3 over the Moose Jaw Warriors.

The overtime winner was Pickford’s second goal of the night and 17th of the season, which leads all Western Hockey League defensemen and is tied for eighth most amongst all WHL skaters.

The Tigers outshot the Warriors 12-3 in the opening frame yet found themselves trailing by two entering the first intermission.

Kyle Heger got the Tigers on the board 7:57 into the second to shrink the deficit to one.

Warriors defenseman Brady Ness would extend the Warrior lead back to a pair with under ninety seconds remaining in the second period, with an end-to-end beauty that was capped off by a five-hole shot on Carter Casey.

The Tigers responded with seven seconds left in the frame as Bryce Pickford put a shot off the glove of Chase Wutzke and in to get the Tabbies back within a goal.

After allowing three goals on 11 shots, Casey was pulled to start the third, and Jordan Switzer was in to take his place.

The goaltending change sparked the Tigers, who tied the game 18 seconds into the third period with Noah Davidson’s eighth of the season.

The remainder of the regulation would solve nothing despite some great Tiger chances, setting the stage for the Pickford overtime winner.

The Tigers outshot the Warriors 40-14 in the win.

Warriors netminder Chase Wutzke stopped 36 of 40 shots in the defeat, while Jordan Switzer stopped all three shots he faced in relief of Casey in the win.

The Tigers are back in action tomorrow night for their Teddy Bear Toss game as they begin a four-game homestand to close the first half of the season against the Wenatchee Wild.
