The Medicine Hat Cubs winning streak has now reached seven games.

A dominant 7-4 win over the Agra Risk Wheatland Kings out of Strathmore on Friday was followed by a 3-0 victory over the Sylvan Lake Wranglers on Sunday.

In Sunday’s contest, the Cubs had forward Cole Fisher get the scoring going mid-way through the first period to give the Cubs a 1-0 lead. Assists went to forwards Josiah Jackson and Jesse Klimosko.

Special teams took over in the second period as Cubs defenceman Austin Derzaph scored a short-handed marker assisted by Randen Collier, and Jacob Hazzard, just over 13 minutes in.

A few minutes later, forward Mason Osinski scored a power-play marker for the Cubs, assisted by forward Kyle Woolridge and Jacob Hazzard.

Cubs goaltender Marlo DeRosa made 25 stops for his league-leading fourth shutout in the win.

In Friday’s contest, forward Josiah Jackson had a pair of goals, with five other Cubs finding the back of the net.

In a battle of the top two teams in the Heritage Junior Hockey League’s South Division, the Cubs are back in action on Sunday in Coaldale against the Copperheads.

But first, several Cubs players and staff will be attending the HJHL All-Star Game in Strathmore on Saturday.
