A pair of weather-related alerts has been issued for the region.

Environment Canada has declared a “yellow” snowfall warning for a portion of southwest Alberta, meaning that the impact level of the weather event is considered moderate, and they have high confidence that it will happen.

The weather forecaster is calling for snow to begin falling Thursday afternoon, intensify in the evening, and continue through Friday before tapering off Friday evening.

Altogether, they are estimating between 15 and 20 cm of snow.

The impacted area includes Lethbridge, Coaldale, Taber, Fort Macleod, Pincher Creek, Cardston, and Milk River.

Environment Canada has also issued a yellow fog advisory for much of the eastern half of the province.

In the south, this impacts Lethbridge, Taber, Medicine Hat, Brooks, and many communities farther to the north.

They say that “near zero visibility” in fog will continue Thursday morning and gradually dissipate through the day.

Travel will become hazardous in some locations.
