Nov 20, 2025 | 12:57 PM

Brooks RCMP and emergency services, including EMS and the Brooks Fire Department, responded to reports of a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Highway 36 and Highway 1, west of Brooks, on Nov. 20, 2025, at 6 a.m.

Upon arrival, it was found that two semi trucks, with one occupant each, had collided at the intersection.

An investigation revealed that a semi-truck pulling an enclosed trailer was southbound on Highway 36 approaching Highway 1, and failed to stop at a stop sign, entering the intersection.

This semi then collided with an eastbound semi-truck pulling an enclosed trailer.

Both semis came to rest on the roadway in the intersection.

The driver of the eastbound semi was transported to a local hospital by ground ambulance with non-life-threatening injuries.

The other driver was not injured.

Traffic was diverted and the highway reopened at 10:15 a.m.

Mounties have charged a 26-year-old Newell County man under the Traffic Safety Act with Careless Driving.
