Alberta premier distances herself from $109M DynaLife lab testing debacle
Alberta Premier Danielle Smith is distancing herself from a multimillion-dollar lab testing debacle involving the former private provider DynaLife.
Smith told the legislature the problems predated her time in office and that when she came in, she moved quickly to fix them.
Her comments come a day after the auditor general reported this week that some $109 million in public funds went to waste.
He reported that just months after DynaLife took over provincewide testing in 2022 under a deal with the United Conservative government, it became clear it couldn’t deliver.
