Travellers from Innisfail to Scotford may experience delays because of large load transport
The Government of Alberta is warning the public to expect delays over the next three days as an oversized load is transported from Innisfail to Scotford.
Beginning today through Nov. 21, the load will be moving at a maximum speed of 50 km/h because of its size and weight from Innisfail to Scotford near Fort Saskatchewan.
The province says the load is a wet flare drum, which is a critical safety component in flare systems. It is 8.8 metres wide, 8.5 metres high and 57.6 metres long.
The load will travel with guide vehicles, below the posted speed limits, using the entire width of the highway. They warn that it will also occasionally travel against the flow of traffic, with some lanes blocked off.
