$67,000 worth of drugs seized in Medicine Hat

A significant drug bust has been made in southern Alberta.

The Alberta Law Enforcement Response Team (ALERT) says it has arrested two people after a pair of homes in Medicine Hat were searched on Friday, Nov. 7, 2025.

The drugs are estimated to have a total street value of $67,000, and they include:

  • 157 grams of fentanyl
  • 522 fentanyl patches
  • 187 grams of methamphetamine
  • 36 grams of cocaine

Officers also allegedly confiscated $10,675 in cash and three firearms.

Two of the guns, which were reportedly found loaded, are said to be prohibited sawed-off shotguns. The third firearm had reportedly been stolen.

ALERT Staff Sgt. Ryan Thorburn says, “This investigation aimed to cut off a drug supply line that was preying upon vulnerable and unhoused individuals. ALERT will aggressively target these drug supply lines and repeat offenders in order to keep our downtown safe.”

Wendy Scott, 41, and Kerry Simms, 43, are charged.

Scott is charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking, as well as a variety of breach violations. She remains in custody.

Simms is charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking, possession of the proceeds of crime, possession of stolen property, as well as multiple firearms offences. She remains in custody.
