An airplane has crashed on the Medicine Hat Regional Airport’s main runway

Nov 12, 2025 | 4:19 PM

Emergency service providers and operations staff at the Medicine Hat Regional Airport responded to an incident involving a small aircraft on the main runway at approximately 2:30 p.m. on Nov. 12, 2025.

According to the City of Medicine Hat, the incident was caused by the aircraft landing too early on the runway, coming to rest in the grass, where it could not move without assistance.

The pilot and one passenger were aboard the aircraft with no injuries reported at this time.

Airport operations staff cleared the runway in approximately two hours.

WestJet’s scheduled flight from Calgary International Airport was delayed approximately 3.5 hours. The flight was completed yesterday evening.

The City of Medicine Hat is appreciative of the front-line airport crews for their prompt response to ensure a safe and efficient return to normal operations.
