Here is what’s on this weekend in Medicine Hat: November 7-9

It’s the second weekend of November, and the weather is expected to be cool according to Environment Canada.

Friday is forecast to be cloudy with rain early in the day and wind gusts up to 70 km/hr in the afternoon.

The temperature is expected to reach a high of 8 C, falling to 1 C by the afternoon.

The rain is expected to turn to snow in the evening until after midnight. Wind gusts up to 70 km/hr, low minus 3 C, with wind chill up to minus 7 C overnight.

Saturday is set to clear up in the morning, with wind gusts up to 15 km/hr. A daytime high of 4 C, with the wind chill at minus 7 C in the morning. The evening is expected to be clear with a low of minus 3 C.

Sunday is forecast as sunny with a high of 11 C, and in the evening a clear sky with a low of 6 C.

🎄Christmas Farmers’ Market 2025

FRIDAY AND SATURDAY

The 28th annual Farmers’ Market Christmas is this weekend at the Cypress Centre Fieldhouse and Pavilion.

Lots of vendors will be on site offering a variety of products.

It’s open Friday from Noon to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

General admission is $2, with children 12 and under free.

🐅 Medicine Hat Tigers

FRIDAY AND SATURDAY

The Medicine Hat Tigers have a pair of home games this weekend.

Friday night, the Eastern Conference-leading Edmonton Oil Kings come to Co-op Place.

Saturday, the Tigers host the Brandon Wheat Kings.

Both games have a 7 p.m. puck drop with tickets available at the box office or tixx.ca.

The radio broadcast with Will Bryant and Lance Doll on Wild 94.5 will start with the pre-game at 6:30 p.m. both nights.

🐍 Rattlers Athletics

FRIDAY, SATURDAY AND SUNDAY

The Medicine Hat Rattlers women’s hockey team has a three-game home stand this weekend against the Lakeland College Rustlers.

All three games will be at the Moose Recreation Centre.

Friday is at 7:30 p.m., Saturday is at 7:15 p.m., and Sunday’s game goes at 1 p.m.

The Rattlers come into the games with one win, two regulation losses, two overtime losses, and one shootout loss.

The Rustlers have six wins and one loss this season.

📽 Busy weekend at Monarch Theatre

FRIDAY, SATURDAY AND SUNDAY

The Phoenix Band celebrates 40 years of country music at the Monarch Theatre on Friday night.

This one-night-only performance will also include door prizes and an after-show reception at The Liquid Listening Lounge.

Doors open at 6 p.m., and the show starts at 7 p.m.

Tickets are $20 in advance through band members, or $25 at the door.

The What Matters to Hatters Coalition hosts the Project UnLonely Film Fest & Community Mingle at the Monarch Theatre on Saturday.

Five short films will be shown starting at 2 p.m., and the first 100 guests to arrive will receive a $5 concession coupon.

That evening, a special screening of Saving Private Ryan will be hosted at the Monarch Theatre in honour of Remembrance Day.

The powerful World War II film is directed by Steven Spielberg and stars Tom Hanks, Edward Burns, and Matt Damon.

Doors open at 6:15 p.m., with the movie starting at 7 p.m.

On Sunday, Disney’s Frozen will play at the theatre.

Sing along with Elsa, Anna, Olaf, and friends.

Doors open at 1:15 p.m., with the movie starting at 2 p.m.

Admission is $5 cash only, with concession items two for $5 for both Saving Private Ryan and Frozen.

🪖 Billy Bishop Goes to War

Recipient of the Governor General’s Award for English Drama, Billy Bishop Goes to War is one of the most widely produced plays in Canadian theatre, documenting the heroic First World War exploits of Canadian flying ace Billy Bishop.

The play stars actors Damon Calderwood and Chris Robson of Ace Productions, a British Columbia‐based, small‐cast touring musical theatre company.

The event is pay what you will as you leave, with tickets to reserve your spot available on tixx.ca.

It’s at the Esplanade Arts & Heritage Centre on Friday night beginning at 7:30 p.m.

🧔 The Masculine Lived Experience

FRIDAY

An evening of conversation, connection, and community takes place during The Masculine Lived Experience, an exhibition that explores the complexities, challenges, and diverse realities of masculinity through contemporary art.

Moderated by exhibition curator Xanthe Isbister, the panel discussion will feature exhibiting artists Kylie Fineday, John Onyschuk, Matt Semenok, Craig Le Blanc and Aron Hill as they share personal insights into their work and the broader themes of identity, vulnerability, strength, and their lived experiences.

It’s at the Esplanade Arts & Heritage Centre on Friday night, starting at 7 p.m. and is free to attend.

The panel will run for approximately one hour with a casual reception to follow.

🎬 The Pride Saga: A Trivia Odyssey

FRIDAY

The Prairie Pride Guild is hosting a trivia night at the Medicine Hat Brewing Company on Friday from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Tickets are $15 for the event.

♣️ Game Night at the Kiwanis!

FRIDAY

The Kiwanis Centre hosts “Game Night at the Kiwanis!” every first and third Friday of the month.

Bring your board games, card games, or other tabletop games and enjoy the space to play.

If don’t have a game to bring, you can play one of the games kept in the centre or join in with someone else.

Entry is $5, with cans of pop and bags of chips available for $1.

Participants under 16 years of age require a parent or guardian present.

All funds stay with the Gas City Kiwanis Centre to help keep things running and in good repair.

The event runs from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Friday at 826 11th Street S.E. in Medicine Hat.

🚎 Wartime History on the Sunshine Trolly

SATURDAY, MONDAY

Lifelong Hatter Sally Sehn will provide for a deep dive into Medicine Hat’s wartime history on the Sunshine Trolley Saturday from 10 a.m. until noon, and noon to 2 p.m.

It will also go again on Monday from 10 a.m. until Noon.

During the trolley ride and at stops, Sehn will share detailed stories about various locations and people who served our country in combat.

The tour will begin and end at the Medicine Hat Legion.

Participants can park in the Legion’s parking lot.

At the end of the Trolley ride, a representative from the local Legion will offer a tour of their building and share some of the group’s history.

The restaurant at the Legion will be open at the end of the tour for anyone wanting to grab a coffee or lunch.

Tourism Medicine Hat will donate a portion of the ticket sale proceeds to the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 17.

Due to multiple stops on difficult terrain, wheelchair seating will not be available for these tours.

It’s advised to dress for the cool weather, as portions of the tour are spent off the trolley.

🎙Danger Cats Live in Medicine Hat

SATURDAY

Sam Walker, Brett Forte, and Taber’s own Uncle Hack bring you an evening of jokes they claim your HR department would have a meltdown over.

A unique comedy show put on by the Danger Cats group will take the stage at Liquid on Saturday at 7 p.m.

Forte, the headliner, has been featured on Just For Laughs and The Hollywood Comedy Festival.
