The band Foreigner is coming to Medicine Hat at 7:30 p.m. on Nov. 5, 2025, to perform with a local choir from St. Mary’s School Fine Arts Academy.

Twenty-five Grade 9 students will be on stage with the band to perform one of Foreigner’s biggest hits, I Want To Know What Love Is.

The choir earned the opportunity after winning a contest hosted by the band, which seeks out local choirs to perform with them during their tours.

Choir director of the Fine Arts Academy, Shayna Peters, said the kids are beyond excited.

“They’re buzzing, they’re ready to perform. Lots of them never get the opportunity to perform on a stage like this,” Peters said.

“I’m so excited for them. They are more than capable. They’ve gotten this far, and we were chosen to sing with Foreigner for a reason.”

Peters said this is the largest stage they’ve ever performed on.

“The school’s Fine Arts Academy does performances every year, but hasn’t performed quite to this degree before,” Peters said.

“There’s a little bit of nerves, but there’s also excitement, and they’re just they’re super excited to have this opportunity,” she added.

“I remind them just to have fun at the end of the day, and to enjoy themselves.”
