Alberta Health Services announced Wednesday that recent weather has cooled lake and reservoir water temperatures to a point that cyanobacteria (blue-green algae) present a low health risk, including the one water body impacted in the South Zone.

Reesor Lake in Cypress County had been placed under a cyanobacteria advisories on July 22 by AHS, which was lifted as of Nov. 5, 2025.

Additionally, AHS said visitors are reminded not to drink or cook with untreated water from any recreational body of water at any time, including Reesor Lake.

Boiling water will not remove the toxins produced by cyanobacteria.
