Medicine Hat City Council and school board trustee positions determined, to become official Friday

Voting results for municipalities across Alberta will become official on Friday, Oct 24, at noon.

Vote counting was completed for the City of Medicine Hat’s Municipal election on Wednesday night.

Returning to the Mayor position for a second term is Linnsie Clark.

Clark will be joined on council by the founder of The Connections Intercultural Association of Medicine Hat, Yusuf Mohammed who gained the most votes, he was followed by former mayor Ted Clugston, Stuart Young, businessman Chris Hellman, former and now current councillor Bill Cock, business woman Cheryl Phaff, former CHAT TV news anchor Dan Reynish, and former and now current councillor Brian Varga.

The new council will be sworn in during its first city council meeting on Nov. 3.

Trustees for both school boards have also unofficially been determined.

The Medicine Hat Public School Division will have both Pat Grisonich and Catherine Wilson return.

They are joined by new members Quinn Skelton, Gwendoline Dirk, and Megan Hilgendorf.

Medicine Hat’s Catholic Board of Education had Chuck Hellman as the top vote getter.

He was followed by three incumbent trustees, Kathy Glasgo, Dick Mastel, and Bernie Kinch. The final spot went to Raymond West.
