Medicine Hat College invites students to ‘be curious’ at Open House

Oct 22, 2025 | 7:47 AM

Medicine Hat College is set to host a pair of open houses.

The events will take place at MHC’s Brooks campus on Nov. 5 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. and at the Medicine Hat campus on Nov. 12 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Kendra Kobley, coordinator of admissions and recruitment, says the annual event is the best opportunity for students to get a thorough understanding of their future at the college.

“I want students to be curious when they come. I want them to ask questions, try things out, explore, and maybe think outside the box because they don’t know what they don’t know,” said Kobley.

“I’m hoping that open house can bring clarity, excitement and give them an idea of what their path could look like.”

All programs will be on display, with representatives available to discuss apprenticeship, certificate, diploma, and degree programs with attendees.

Guided campus tours will also be available with program demonstrations and insights from current students and instructors from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

For prospective students and parents with questions about attending college, Kobley will lead a presentation on Nov. 12 at 5:30 p.m. at the Medicine Hat campus.

“It’s going to be about all those things you need to know to go to college,” Kobley said.

“There will be some information that is suitable for parents and supporters, and some information that’s helpful for students,” she added.

“I’m hoping to demystify some of the things that you need to know about going to college.”

Whether students are undecided about their futures or feeling anxious about meeting admission requirements, Kobley adds that there are options and solutions for everyone.

Her team will be available to help break down decisions, speak to concerns that people may have, and share valuable information for those who feel ready to apply.

The college will waive application fees for Fall 2026 for those who attend the event, and each applicant will be entered to win a $1000 tuition credit.

There will also be free food and prizes throughout the day.

Information about the open house and registration can be found on the college website.
