Unofficial municipal election results for Medicine Hat area

Municipal elections concluded in Alberta at 8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 20, 2025, and the paper ballot counts began.

Official results will be determined by Friday, Oct. 24, at noon.

Here are some unofficial results.

City of Medicine Hat

The returning officer for the City of Medicine Hat Taroyln Aaserud has declared incumbent Linnsie Clark as the next Mayor of the City.

Six candidates were running for mayor in Medicine Hat.

The race for the eight spots on the City Council had a record 39 candidates.

The vote counting process wrapped up on Wednesday night at 10:15 p.m.

Voter turnout was down slightly from last year at 18,265.

Counts had continued through Monday until 2 a.m., and resumed Tuesday from 10:30 a.m. until 2 p.m. Updates began again on Wednesday at 9 a.m. with the final report at 10:15 p.m.

With the final update on Wednesday at 10:15 p.m., the mayor’s race finished like this.

Town of Redcliff

The Town of Redcliff had two candidates in the race for mayor, with 10 others looking for one of six positions on council.

Former councillor Chris Czember will be the the new mayor. Former Mayor Dwight Kilpatrick at this point has beaten out incumbent councillor James Allen by a single vote.

A vote was held for Ward 3 to cover two trustee positions for the Redcliff and Dunmore area with Prairie Rose Public Schools, with unofficial totals reporting.

Special Areas

Special Areas includes a unique form of local government in the southeast part of Alberta.

The Special Areas Board is responsible for providing rural municipal government services and public land management to the residents of Special Areas 2, 3, and 4.

An election was held in one subdivisions with candidates acclaimed in the other 11 areas.

The area covered by Special Areas No.2 – Subdivision 2 includes the Hamlet of Dorothy, which is south east of Drumheller.

The results from the advisory councillor election between two candidates are:
