Medicine Hat College Rattlers’ Bishop takes second at collegiate golf nationals, women’s ice hockey team wins

Oct 19, 2025 | 7:00 AM

The Medicine Hat College Rattlers program had success on the ice and the golf course during the third weekend of October.

The Rattlers women’s ice hockey team won 3-1 over the NAIT Ooks for the team’s first ACAC win of the season, and only the fourth ACAC win in the team’s history.

Forward Sage Nohr led the way offensively for the Rattlers with a pair of goals, and defenceman Chloe Johnson had a goal and an assist.

Goaltender Anna Stewart turned aside 32 of 33 shots for her third ACAC win as a member of the Rattlers.

Rattlers golf team member Wyatt Bishop won silver at the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association’s National Golf Championship at Desert Blume Golf Club on Friday.

Bishop put together four strong rounds on his home course to finish at 11-under-par, only two strokes off the top spot.

Desert Blume is a course Bishop is familiar with; his father, Bill, is part of the ownership group, and Wyatt also holds the single-round record of 12-under par from the black tees set in August 2025.

He was one stroke off his best single round across the four rounds, but was dealing with tougher conditions with rain coming down on Friday, and cooler temperatures.

After a par 72 on day one, his best score of the tournament came on day two with a 5-under 67, the best single-day score of the tournament.

A 2-under par 70 for Bishop on day three, and a final day best of 4-under 68, separated him from SAIT’s Jadan Patal, who came into the final day tied with Bishop for second at 7-under par.

Patal would card a 5-over par 77 on the final day to end up at 2-under par, only one of three golfers to accomplish the feat.

Top spot at 13-under par was Thomas Grenier from CEGEP Champlain St. Lawrence in Quebec City, Que.

Grenier held the tournament lead from day one to take his first CCAA national golf title. He placed 16th at last year’s event.

The Rattlers men’s golf team finished 5th overall at the event at a combined 62-over par.

The four other Rattlers golfers on the men’s team were Rylan Hodgson, who took 27th place at 23-over par, Hayden King who was 30th at 26-over, Keelan Burzminski who placed 33rd with 30-over, and Isaac Stehr who was 40th at 42-over.

The Rattlers women had Kiara Reesor place 14th at 92-over par, Ava Bratvold was 15th at 97-over, and Zoe Hodgson placed 21st at 147-over.

A pair of final Rattlers home soccer games of the season will be played at the Medicine Hat College soccer pitch on Sunday.

The Rattlers men’s team will look to lock down first place in the South Division, sitting with a 9-0 record, after a 7-1 win over Amrose University on Saturday.

The Rattlers take on the SAIT Trojans, who also have a chance at the top spot with an 8-1 record.

It would also secure a semi-final spot in the ACAC playoffs hosted by the Lethbridge Polytechnic Kodiaks in Raymond from Oct. 23-26.

That game goes at 2:15 p.m.

The women’s game between the two schools will be prior, starting at noon.

It will be the final game of the season for the Rattlers women’s team, who sit with a 7-4 record, just outside the playoff picture, with Lethbridge Polytechnic hosting.

SAIT carries an 11-0 record into that contest, sitting in top spot in the ACAC South.
