The library is always a good place to find a book to read, but there is always so much more going on there.

Here are the top five things to do at the Medicine Hat Public Library in September 2025.

Sips and Socials: Artsy Night, Sept. 11, 6-8 p.m., MT Nest Café & Market

Come to MT Nest to make new friends and build connections over common interests in a no-pressure setting. Each table will have a discussion topic like pottery, creative writing, photography, painting and more to help you find like-minded people to enjoy your evening with. Food and drinks will be available to purchase.

Pecha Kucha Vol. 35, Sept. 20, 7 p.m., Esplanade Main Theatre

Enjoy talks from passionate people about interesting things in a 20×20 format – 20 slides x 20 seconds per slide. Tickets are free, but must be acquired through tixx.ca or at the Esplanades’ Box Office starting on Sept. 5. Suggested donation of $5. Doors open at 7 p.m., program begins promptly at 7:30 p.m.

Recipe Swap and Scrapbook, Sept. 23, 6 p.m., Adults

Share a copy of your favourite recipe(s) with fellow food lovers, then create a cookbook scrapbook to fill with all the delicious new recipes you collect. Please note this is an exchange of written recipes, and no home cooked food will be present, but the library will provide refreshments and snacks while you craft! Register at mhpl.info/register.

Explore the Invasion, Sept. 25, 4 p.m., Ages 10-19

Join us and Invasives Canada in this interactive workshop where you will learn how to identify invasive species, plant your own native wildflowers, decorate your own small animal or fish coffin and much more! Register at mhpl.info/register.

Reading with Rabbits, Sept. 27, 2 p.m., Ages 4-6

Hop over to celebrate International Rabbit Day with a special rabbit themed storytime in partnership with Bunny Run Rabbit Rescue! Join us for stories, then stick around for a chance to meet, pet and learn all about real rabbits from our rescue friends. Register at mhpl.info/register.
