Here is what’s on this weekend in Medicine Hat: Aug. 29-Sept.1

It’s the Labour Day long weekend, and after some potential rain on Friday and early Saturday the weather looks to be clear for the weekend according to Environment Canada.

Friday is cloudy with a 60 per cent chance of showers during the day and 30 per cent in the evening with a high of 25 C and low of 14 C in the evening

Saturday is projected to be mainly cloudy with a 30 per cent chance of showers in the morning, then clear later on with a high of 28 C and an evening low of 12 C.

Sunday is sunny and a high of 32 C and low of 13 C at night.

Holiday Monday is similar to Sunday, with it being sunny and 32 C with an evening low of 14 C.

🚜 Irvine 20 Mile Post Days

FRIDAY, SATURDAY, SUNDAY, MONDAY

Irvine 20 Mile Post Days are taking place this weekend east of Medicine Hat in Irvine.

The Rodeo will take place at 1 p.m. on Sunday at the Irvine Road Grounds. Slack will take place at 8:30 a.m.

The Beer gardens will be open at the rodeo grounds 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday, and noon to 10 p.m. on Sunday.

Friday though Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. the Irvine Agriculture Discovery Centre Tour is taking place, and the Prairie Memories Museum will be open.

Antique tractor pulls take place at the rodeo grounds Friday and Saturday at 5 p.m.

A free pancake breakfast is being hosted by the Lions Club at New Horizon’s Hall Saturday from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. with a market to follow from noon to 4 p.m.

The parade is set to go Saturday at 11 a.m. with the line up and judging from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m.

The parade route will be from the east side of Irvine through the downtown and over to the Irvine complex.

A hot dog lunch by donation and free face painting goes Saturday at the Community Resource Centre.

A gymkana equestrian event will take place at the rodeo ground on Monday at 9 a.m. to wrap things up.

🐅 Tigers Training Camp

FRIDAY, SATURDAY, SUNDAY

The Medicine Hat Tigers training camp is underway with a round robin tournament running as they prepare for the Western Hockey League season.

Friday’s later games go at 5 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.

Saturday has the finals with games at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Sunday is the Tigers intrasquad game starting at 10:30 a.m.

🏇 Canadian Classic Rodeo Association at Dunmore Equestrian

SATURDAY, SUNDAY, MONDAY

The Dunmore Equestrian Society is hosting the 2025 Dunmore Canadian Classic Timed Event with a new rodeo each day.

Saturday starts at 11 a.m., Sunday at 4 p.m. and Monday at 1 p.m.

Events include barrel racing, tie down, steer wrestling, ribbon roping, team roping, mixed team roping, and men’s and lady’s breakaway roping.

Admission is free and there will be a beer garden onsite with a silent auction.

🎸 Porchfest

SATURDAY

An outdoor event hosted in one of Medicine Hat’s most historic neighbourhoods, PorchFest invites local musicians to perform on front lawns and porches throughout the Southeast Hill.

The quaint neighbourhood is full of century-old homes and beautiful boulevards, where people can walk, bike, e-scoot, or skateboard from home to home to bask in the fresh air and watch the wholesome, live performances.

Visitors and residents can house-hop from performance to performance throughout the day, with lawn chairs, snacks, water, and their furry friends.

The event is donation-based and starts at noon, with the final show at 6 p.m.

🎸 Live on the Cantina Stage: Warehouse Cats

SATURDAY

The Warehouse Cats are set to hit the Cantina Stage at Casa Amigos downtown with some punk rock music Saturday night.

They take the stage starting at 9 p.m.

🤗 International Overdose Awarness Day Healing Circle

SUNDAY

Standing in solidarity with the community during International Overdose Awareness Day the on Sunday.

The Medicine Hat Drug Coalition is hosting a sharing circle at the Medicine Hat Public Library from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. for a day of remembrance, reflection, and support.

The event aims to raise awareness about the impacts of lives gone too soon due to substance related harms.

Working together towards creating a safe and understanding community.

This event is limited to 20 people and requires pre-registration at https://www.eventbrite.ca/…/international-overdose.

It’s being advertised as a small, intimate experience where people can come and share their stories in a safe space.

Volunteers will be there for anyone needing support.

🎸 The Gordon Lightfoot Tribute @ Liquid

SUNDAY

The music of Gordon Lightfoot will be played by musician Miles Fornes at the Liquid Concert and Entertainment Venue.

It’s a tribute tour for the 50th anniversary of the sinking of the Edmund Fitzgerald.

Doors open at 7 p.m. with the show starting at 8 p.m.

Tickets are $34.50 all in.

📽 Movie Night at Golden Sheaf Park

SUNDAY

The Night Owl Cinema hosts movie night at Golden Sheaf Park for thir last movie of the 2025 camping series.

The movie being shown is, “A Minecraft Movie”

CJ’s Pizza will be serving pizza and popcorn.

The movie will begin at dusk on Sunday night.
