Saskatchewan man faces multiple charging after he fled from Medicine Hat Police on weekend

A Saskatchewan man is facing multiple charges after he fled from Medicine Hat Police during the early morning of Aug. 23, 2025.

Member of the Medicine Hat Police Service Patrol Section where conducting property checks in the Brier Park Industrial area of the city on Saturday at 2:48 a.m. when police say they observed a Ford F150 truck driving suspiciously.

Police attempted to stop the vehicle, and the driver fled from police at a high rate of speed.

Officers did not pursue the vehicle at the time out of consideration for public safety, but a further investigation led to the identification of a suspect.

On Sunday evening at 9:51 p.m., the MHPS Patrol Section responded to a complaint regarding a vehicle in the 900 block of 3 Ave SE.

The truck was located and confirmed by officers as the same Ford F150 truck from the previous incident.

The truck evaded police again, with a pursuit again not undertaken for safety reasons.

The vehicle was tracked into the North Flats, and located in the 800A block of Braemar Street Southeast.

When officers arrived, they said the suspect re-entered the vehicle and intentionally rammed a responding police unit before fleeing on foot.

The driver was apprehended following a brief foot chase.

The 24-year-old from Weyburn, Sask. remained in police custody Monday morning with charges including:

• Flight from Police
• Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle
• Assault Police with a Weapon
• Assault to Resist Arrest
• Resisting a Police Officer
• Driving While Suspended
• Failure to Remain at the Scene of an Accident
