The fourth annual Amazing Race for Hunger hosted by the Root Cellar Food & Wellness Hub raised a record amount over the weekend.

This year the 21 teams helped raise $129,497.36 to support the food bank in Medicine Hat.

With funds going to the Root Cellar’s emergency food pantry, the support for the event has continued to grow over the years.

Root Cellar executive director Melissa Mullis hosted the live online stream of the event with My96 morning host Hudson on Saturday.

“This year’s Amazing Race for Hunger was incredible. The energy, the creativity, and the generosity we saw on race day remind us how much our community cares,” Mullis said.

“To not only reach, but exceed our goal shows the momentum is still growing, and that’s something worth celebrating,” she added.

“A huge thank you to everyone who raced, donated, volunteered and supported us, you have ensured that we can keep meeting the needs of the people accessing our emergency food pantry and we are very grateful.”
