Mustard Seed community kitchen gets 180-day extension

The City of Medicine Hat through the municipal planning commission has approved an operation permit extension for the Mustard Seed’s community kitchen.

The organizations permit has been extended 180-day to run the community kitchen at the Allowance Avenue location.

The Mustard Seed originally were granted permission to operate the ‘ghost kitchen’ at meeting held by the commission on May 7, 2025.

The Mustard Seed’s Community Impact Centre was close to it’s normal operation on Feb. 28, 2025 after complaints from nearby residents lead to it’s closure.

A town hall with Mustard Seed staff and local dignitaries was held in early January where residents had expressed their issues with the location of the building and the element it had brought to the community.
