A win for the Medicine Hat Mavericks would extend their season, a loss would end it.

The Mavs are on the road to Regina tonight to face the Red Sox in game two of its Western Canadian Baseball League playoff series.

The Mavs lost game one of the east division semi-final by a 6-2 score Wednesday night at Athletic Park in front of 1,717 fans.

Landon Riley got the win on the mound for the Red Sox, while Luis Diaz was given the loss for the Mavs.

The Mavericks did outhit the Red Sox in the contest 12-10, but struggled cashing in runs with runners left on base in all nine innings.

By comparison the Red Sox only left six runners on base, with the Mavs stranding 12 runners throughout the contest.

If necessary, game three would be back in Medicine Hat on Friday night at 7:05 p.m. with the winner advancing to the east final.
