Cows injured or killed after collision with semi truck in Jenner area

Brooks RCMP, EMS and Fire Department responded to a semi truck and multiple cows collision in the Jenner area early Thursday morning.

The incident happened at approximately 4 a.m. close to the intersection of HWY 544 and Range Road 103 near Iddesleigh.

When emergency services arrived they found approximately 14 cows injured or killed.

Mounties said the investigation found that the semi truck in the ditch was the second of two semi trucks that struck a herd of cows on the roadway.

The first semi truck was unable to immediately stop and not at the scene, according to police.

Emergency crews and the cattle owner worked to clear the highway.

No injuries were reported by the semi truck drivers, and the matter is under investigation.
