Here is what’s on this weekend in Medicine Hat: August 1-4

August is here and it starts with a long weekend, with Monday being a civic holiday.

The weather is expected to stay warm through the weekend, with rain expected throughout, according to Environment Canada.

Friday is showing as the warmest of the four days with a high of 30 C, with a 60 per cent chance of showers and a potential thunderstorm in the forecast in the evening and overnight with a low of 17 C.

Saturday during the day is expected to have some clouds and rain with afternoon thunderstorm risk, sitting at a high of 26 C.

Sunday the prediction is showers with a high of 22 C.

Monday expectations are showers with a high of 27 C.

Here is what’s on in Medicine Hat and area this weekend.

⚾️American League State Baseball Tournament

FRIDAY, SATURDAY, SUNDAY

The American Legion Double-‘A’ Alberta/Montana State baseball tournament continues at Athletic Park.

A double knockout format to the tournament eliminates a team after two losses.

The host Medicine Hat Moose Monarchs are one of those teams, losing their second game of the tournament against the Bozeman Bucks on Thursday, with the Great Falls Chargers also knocked out coming into the games Friday.

Six teams remain with three games on the schedule Friday.

The Bozeman Bucks take on the Billings Scarlets at 1 p.m.

The Kalispell Lakers will battle the Billings Royals at 4 p.m.

A pair of undefeated teams in the Missoula Mavericks and Helena Senators square off at 7 p.m.

Saturday will have games at 1 p.m. and 4 p.m.

Sunday a winner will be determines with a game at 11 a.m. and another to follow after a 45 minute break if necessary based on a team not reaching two losses.

🏁 Medicine Hat Drag Racing

FRIDAY, SATURDAY, SUNDAY

Friday night at the Medicine Hat Drag Racing Association Drag Strip will have the gates open to spectators at 5 p.m. with races underway at 7 p.m. with street legal vehicles.

Saturday will be 1/4 mile drag racing, all classes, and a junior outlaw race. Open to spectators at 11 a.m.

Sunday features 1/4 mile drag racing, all classes with gates open for fans at 9 a.m.

Admission is $15 cash at the gate each night with 12 and under free.

🛍Plastic-Free BBQ & Sustainability Market

SATURDAY

The Medicine Hat Interpretive Program at Police Point Park is hosting a Plastic-Free BBQ & Sustainability Market with Roots Refillery.

The complimentary BBQ runs from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at Police Point Park.

Several local vendors will also be on location promoting sustainability in our community.

Family-friendly activities throughout the day will also take place through the interpretive program.

🥁 Jouvert Vibes

SUNDAY

Experience the colours, music and freedom of Caribbean Culture at the Toboggan Hill Picnic Shelter in Kin Coulee Park.

It takes place on Sunday from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m.

🎃 Haunted tours

SATURDAY

Miller’s Haunted Tours: Summer 2025 is continuing this weekend on the trolley Saturday at 8:30 p.m.

Step into the shadows and ride the historic trolley through Medicine Hat’s most chilling locations, organizers say.

From eerie encounters at the old train station to ghost stories whispered in the wind at Strathcona Park, this guided tour blends history with haunting tales that will send shivers down your spine.

Tickets can be ordered online.

The tour starts at 214 South Railway Street SE in Medicine Hat.

🎤 Speak Easy

FRIDAY

Mad Hatter Comedy Club in participation with Mad Hatter Artistry is presenting Speak Easy on Friday night.

Doors open at 7 p.m. with the show from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m.

It will include a night of spoken word, poetry, short stories, opinion pieces, and written emotions.

Tickets are $5 and first come first serve.
