Brooks RCMP investigate after recovering stolen vehicle

Brooks RCMP received a report of a stolen blue Chevrolet Silverado pickup from the CDN Controls shop located on Well Street in Brooks on Sunday shortly after noon.

Mounties said the caller stated the stolen vehicle had been spotted traveling on Highway 36 near Highway 873.

Officers patrolled the area but were unable to locate the vehicle at that time.

Later that afternoon, RCMP received another report from a resident in Ingram Park Drive area whom reported seeing a blue Chevrolet Silverado pickup in the alley behind their home.

The resident suspected the vehicle was stolen and noticed that the truck struck and damaged a Telus utility box.

Officers attended the scene and investigated locating skid and tire tracks.

Officers then followed the tracks until they located the abandoned Silverado nearby.

Mounties said the vehicle was seized, and a forensic examination was completed, prior to being returned to its owner.

The investigation is ongoing, according to police.
