Medicine Hat police officer facing charges amid investigation

Jul 7, 2025 | 4:56 PM

Criminal charges are pending against a Medicine Hat Police Service officer, Edmonton police say.

The Edmonton Police Service’s professional standards division, at the request of Medicine Hat police, started an investigation in February 2023 following complaints from a former MHPS employee.

Medicine Hat’s Const. Noel Darr was arrested Monday for obstructing justice in relation to the investigation, police said in a news release.

He was released pending an appearance in court on Aug. 27 in Medicine Hat.

Medicine Hat police later said in a statement that Darr is currently away from work for unrelated reasons.

However, it added the office of the chief will review the constable’s duty status following a review of investigative materials when received from the EPS.

Police said additional information would not be provided Monday as the matter was before the courts.

Darr was named in a $1.85 million lawsuit filed by former police chief Mike Worden against the City of Medicine Hat, Medicine Hat police and several former employees.
