Brooks woman charged with assault of peace officer

A 46-year old Brooks woman faces multiple charges including the assault of a peace officer after an incident Wednesday in Brooks.

At approximately 3:20 p.m. on Wednesday Brooks RCMP went to a residence attempting to locate a female wanted on warrants related to an assault and failure to appear in court.

When officers arrived contact was made with the wanted female who barricaded themselves inside the home and refused to comply with police commands.

A Feeney warrant was then obtained by police to lawfully enter the home.

When police entered the home the individual confronted them with a knife.

Officers de-escalated the situation and the women was taken into custody without further incident.

The suspect was transported to the Brooks RCMP detachment and remains in custody.

She is facing charges that include three counts of assault on a peace officer,
obstruction, and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
