Cypress County is looking for opportunities for growth and are engaging with the business community to shape a vision and will host business owners on Tuesday evening.

Information gathering is underway, with a survey being completed with a number of county business owners wrapping up Friday.

Consulting firm Deloitte LLP is assisting the county with the project.

The drop in open house for Cypress County businesses at council chambers in Dunmore is Tuesday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Economic development officer Beth Cash said it’s a great opportunity for ratepayers to be part of future planning for the county, which starts by listening to the people who know the county best.

“”Cypress County is working with Deloitte to develop a 10-year investment attraction strategy which will help guide how the county grows into the future, what kind of businesses and investments we attract, and how we can make sure the county remains sustainable into the future,” Cash said.

“People can expect to come to the open house on June 17 to hear what Deloitte has found so far in their research, particularly around investment readiness, and basically hear how prepared we are at the moment to welcome new business and investment and give feedback on what we can do to improve that,” she added.

“We’ll have discussions where folks can share their thoughts and priorities or challenges that they’ve seen when it comes to economic development.”

Cash says they want the strategy to reflect on our business people in Cypress County.

“Whether someone’s a business owner, entrepreneur, producer, we want to hear their perspective to help shape the direction of this project and make sure that Cypress County grows in a way that fits our people’s values and support our future,” Cash said.

The project is expected to be completed by the end of June once all survey data has been collected and analyzed.
