Jun 13, 2025 | 12:59 PM

Medicine Hat is a busy place this weekend.

Friday is forecasted to be largely pleasant at 26 C until a late afternoon thunderstorm. Sunday and Saturday promise a strong summer bounce back at highs of 26 C apiece.

Here is what’s on this weekend in Medicine Hat.

🐎 Chuckwagon races

All weekend

The World Professional Chuckwagon Association races got off to a muddy start on Thursday — and heats will continue all weekend as they build up to Sunday’s final.

Both Friday and Saturday will run from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. while championship Sunday gets underway at 2 p.m.

All races take place at the Medicine Hat Exhibition and Stampede grounds as drivers take to the “half mile of hell.”

Tickets are available at MHStampede.com or at the gate.

🎉 Redcliff Days

All weekend

The annual Redcliff Days community festival is on this weekend.

New this year is the addition of the Sunshine Trolley route, a free shuttle that runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday.

Friday includes the start of community-wide garage sales, a golf tournament, a public swim and and a movie in Lion’s Park.

Most of the festival takes place on Saturday, kicking off with a pancake breakfast, a kids zone and a market that takes over downtown streets.

The full schedule is available here.

🚒 Fire Station 2 open house

Saturday

The Medicine Hat Fire and Emergency Services is holding an open house to mark 125 years serving the community.

There will be live demonstrations, information displays, station tours and hands-on activities.

A $5 cash donation to the Firefighters Charitable Foundation will get attendees a barbecue meal.

There’s no on-site parking, but a free shuttle will be running continuously from the Medicine Hat Mall to the station and back — a short, two-minute ride, organizers say.

More information is available on the event page.

⚡️ Energy in Motion

Saturday

The City of Medicine Hat is hosting a recreation-focused event as part of Parks and Recreation Month.

Energy in Motion will run from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Kiwanis Central Park on Saturday.

Some of the actives include disc golf, pick-up basketball, sidewalk chalk a free play zone.

The Prairie Pride Guild will have a booth set up and the Sweet Treats Pop’s Popsicle Truck will be on location.

Ewart-Duggan House

Saturday

The historic Ewart-Duggan House will be opened this weekend for visitors.

The City of Medicine Hat is inviting people to explore the residence located downtown and immerse themselves in the stories of those who once lived there.

The open house will from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday.

🗨 Protests against UCP

Saturday

Protests will continue in front of MLA Justin Wright’s office this weekend.

In previous months, protestors have raised concerns over Premier Danielle Smith’s handling of the AHS procurement scandal; her government’s deregulation of mountain coal mining; and the province’s approach to health care, education and affordability.

The rally will take place from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on  Saturday.
