Father vs. son final at Medicine Hat Tennis Club Open Singles Tournament

The Medicine Hat Tennis Club wrapped up the first tournament of the year with a father versus son final in the men’s open category.

It was the father Calvin Heller who got the better of his son Mason over two sets with a 6-4, 6-2 victory in the final.

“It really was special to play him in the final,” Calvin said.

In the men’s open consolation Dave Reinheller came out with the victory over Messele Fentabil, dropping the first set 3-6, but winning the next pair 6-2 and 6-3.

In the women’s open category Aarren Dieok defeated Lauren Danroth 6-3, 6-3.

The women’s consolation final went three sets as Coralee Riehl won over Loni Nickel 6-2, 5-7, 6-0.

In the men’s intermediate final Josh Gazdag beat David Schnare 7-5, 6-2.

The men’s Intermediate B had Zach Day coming back to win over Darryl Giesbrecht 2-6, 6-2, 6-4.

The mens intermediate C final had 14-year old Cooper Danroth defeating Kevin Dollimont 6-4, 7-5.
